I claim the ornamental design for a surface ornamentation applied to a motor vehicle or similar article, as shown and described.

FIG. 1 is a perspective view of a surface ornamentation applied to a motor vehicle or similar article showing my new design; and,

FIG. 2 is a left side elevational view of the design of FIG. 1, the opposite side being a mirror image thereof.

The motor vehicle is shown in broken lines for illustrative purposes only and forms no part of the claimed design.
