The claimed lens for light comprises two transparent lens plates that are overlaid on each other. The claimed lens for light is suited to be disposed in front of illuminating elements arranged on a substrate in a grid array for controlling the distribution of luminous intensity. There is a plurality of fly-eye lenses arranged on the inner surfaces of the front and rear lens plates in a grid array, and there is a plurality of Fresnel lenses arranged on the outer surface of the rear lens plate in a linear array.
