We claim the ornamental design for a side portion of a sports equipment bag, as shown and described.

FIG. 1 is an upper, side perspective view of a side portion of a sports equipment bag showing our new design;

FIG. 2 is a right side view thereof; and,

FIG. 3 is a left side view thereof.

The broken line showing of a sports bag in FIGS. 1–3 is included for the purpose of illustrating the environment of the side portion of a sports equipment bag and forms no part of the claimed design.
